CO OP, Les Pionniers, rosé Champagne is rather good, it’s very drinkable. Dry with plenty of fruit it’s not a bready Champagne but more cremant style. Raspberry and hints of strawberries and redcurrant it’s one to sip in the garden on a summer’s evening. We’ll done CO OP.
La Vieille Ferme, Rose is a dry, light easy drink Rosé wine that will surpriseyou. A mixture of Cinsault, Syrah and Granache it’s not going to win any gold medals, but it has subtle flavours of strawberries and stone fruits and is a drinking with friends sort of wine. At £8 a bottle is reasonable value.
It had to happen one day, a Portuguese wine that failed to impress. Unfortunately this rose from Herdade De Comporta is non descript on all fronts. Aromas and flavours are lacking, there’s a tartness and acidity but nothing to recommend it. Sorry, it’s a shame as the colour is pleasant. At eur24 a bootle is a definite no from me.
It’s hard to get a bad bottle of Portuguese wine in the UK and while this is acceptable its not inspiring. Sure at £10 a bottle it’s decent enough value. Dry, crisp with some red fruit flavours it’s a drinking wine in the summer at the BBQ. Don’t over think it and you’ll be back for another glass.
It’s summer, the sun is out and Rosé is on the table and this Rosé from Chapel Down is just the one to show what England can produce. Dry with decent acidity and lots of red fruit flavours, it has good length and is easy drinking, perfect for the summer. At £14 a bottle it’s not cheap but its a cut above your usual Provence stuff.
We know that Essex is one of the best places in England for why and this Rose from Tuffon Hall really does show some classic English, easy drinking Summer Wine. It’s very much like a Provence which isn’t a bad thing there are hints of strawberry and a touch of red fruit it’s got greater acidity and a firm crispness which is refreshing when sitting at the bottom of the garden watching the sunset. Unfortunately at £16 a bottle it is a little bit on the pricey side, but it is a quality wine.
This is one of the best rose wines I have tasted this year and best of all its under £10 a bottle. Its dry, light with good length and decent flavours of strawberries and redcurrant.
It’s the perfect summer rose that you can drink without a hefty price tag.
Grape Passions, Coastal Reach, Pinot Noir, Rosé, 2021, England
English Pinot Noir is pretty good but when it’s rose it’s even better. Grape Passions is a wind merchant just douth of Colchester znd this is their own brand wine. It’s fresh and crisp with plenty of flavour and good length. You have strawberry and raspberry with red fruit hints all the way through. At about £15 a bottle is not cheap but its pretty good.
Aldi, chassaux et fils, Grenache, Cinsault, Rose, 2020, France
The issue with Audi wine and not just with their rosé is that they produce an absolutely corkers and then it’s gone on which is really frustrating. This Rosie made with Grenache and Cinsault is a classic example it was an impulse purchase as it was £2.99 so not exactly a lot of money.
It’s a clean Rosie with lots of red fruit and aromas of strawberry and redcurrant it’s not elegant but it’s a nice rosé wine that I really enjoyed drinking in February, which is not a month associated with drinking such wine in the UK.
This was quite a surprise, not so much that its from Cyprus as most countries have the ability to make excellent wine but that the flavour is so good.
Made with Cabernet Franc and Lefkada (I had not heard of that one before) its a deep red for a rosé, this is no weedy Provence rosé. Dry with light red fruit aromas, the surprise is the range of flavours, strawberries, raspberries, melon, cherry. Its a clean, fresh wine that really is a delight to drink. At £13 a bottle its not cheap but thats price for quality.
