It’s summer, the sun is out and Rosé is on the table and this Rosé from Chapel Down is just the one to show what England can produce. Dry with decent acidity and lots of red fruit flavours, it has good length and is easy drinking, perfect for the summer. At £14 a bottle it’s not cheap but its a cut above your usual Provence stuff.

If you think you can’t keep English wine for years before drinking it you’re wrong and this is exactly the bottle to try. Chapel Down make a lot of wine and a million bottles on a year but this kits coty is one of their premier lines.

Even after 8-years it is stunning wine to taste and although it costs over £25 a bottle it’s a must to try anyone that likes white wine. A worthy gold medal winner.

Theres still complexity in this wine with aromas of peach and apple, apricot with flinty under notes and subtle oak and a very long finish.

With summer and sitting out in the garden eating salads and barbecues, talking with friends this is got to be one to put on the menu.

Aldi have some great wines at great prices, sure you can look down your nose at them but you will be missing out as this Bacchus made by Chapel Down shows. How do I know this is from Chapel Down, their post code is on the back!

Bacchus is the English/German Sauvignon Blanc. There are aromas of Melon and Gooseberry with additional flavours of citrus and tropical fruit. Its dry, light and refreshing, perfect with asia food, sea food or in the garden on a summers evening enjoying the sun.

At £7.99 per bottle its cheaper than the 6 case price (£60 for 6 bottles) of the branded Chapel Down Bacchus from the vineyard and much cheaper than the £13 per bottle price. Aldi have done it again with a great wine at a great price.

Chapel Down, Bacchus Sparkling, 2019, England

Chapel Down make approx 1 million bottle of wine a year and this offering of sparkling Bacchus shows that a big(ish) UK wine maker can make decent wine.

With this dry white wine you get aromas and flavours of gooseberry, elderflower, pineapple and citrus with an undertone of grapefruit nodding its way through. Sure there are places like Hambledon or Camel Valley that make better but they also cost more and at £18 a bottle this is great alternative.
