Monte da Ravasqueira, Villa Velha, 2018, Portugal

I rate Portuguese wine very highly in general, I’ve not had a bad bottle yet and this one from Monte da Ravasqueira, Villa Velha label is pretty good. Now it’s no gold medal winner but it got a bronze at the Decanter World Wine Awards.

This is dry, lighter then I was expecting with a slight fizz on the tongue. You’ve got flavours of red currant and cherry which although not particularly pronounced is quite refreshing in itself. I had this with homemade pizza and it went very well complementing the food and at well under £10 a bottle it’s well priced.

The secret of this wine is don’t expect too much but just enjoy a light red wine.
